Review 3/24/2026 9/10

Travis Baldree is becoming one of my absolute favorite modern authors. I have been looking for something to encompass the cozy adventure feeling that I've felt a million times myself. The first book did this in a way that instantly made me fall in love. They aren't long, but I get glued to the page and find myself setting it down and daydreaming about being in a coffee shop, a book store, a bakery, etc. I love the little adventures in life and Viv breaking a board and taking the steps to fix it, failing with a few boards but getting a product she is proud of finished is the peak of a small adventure. Helping a friend rebuild is a wonderful small adventure. A fling with the baker is a cute romantic adventure. My point is I love this book. I Gave it a 9/10 because I feel like it leaves before I want it to. Which is actually a major plot point in the Viv/Maylee love story so I suppose it is fitting. What I mean by it leaves early is I wanted to explore this little town more. It could have been another 300 pages before I started to get tired of it. The one point knocked off is purely because I wanted so much more and I feel like we left too early. Everything on the pages themselves is amazing and cozy and gives you that happy warm safe feeling while you read. The stakes were higher than the first time around and the epilogue was adorable as all get out. This book won't make you look in the mirror and rethink your whole life. It isn't that kind of book. It will make you enjoy the adventure in all the small things and relationships in your life. I cannot wait to read the third in the series but I have to pace myself because book four doesn't come out until October. (Sorry if I rambled and went off course a bit I'm tired while writing this but please do yourself a favor and go read this book.)
